Celebrating community & connection

The DSIDQ Gala 2025 is one of the most anticipated events celebrating unity and progress across the state. Held on Friday 17 October 2025 at Victoria Park in Herston, it forms part of Down Syndrome Awareness Month, bringing together families, practitioners, and organisations dedicated to inclusion.

At Behaviour Collaborations, our work in positive behaviour support Queensland reflects the same belief that drives DSIDQ – when communities collaborate, everyone benefits. We’re proud to sponsor this remarkable event once again. The Gala is more than an evening of recognition; it’s a living example of how understanding, respect, and shared purpose can create positive change that lasts long after the night ends.

DSIDQ: Queensland’s Peak Body for inclusion

For decades, DSIDQ has been a trusted voice for people with intellectual disability and their families. Built on the values of inclusion, integrity, and passion, the organisation leads advocacy, education, and connection programs that promote equal opportunity throughout Queensland.

By supporting families, carers, and professionals, DSIDQ empowers individuals to participate fully in life in schools, workplaces, and communities. Their influence reaches far beyond policy; it’s about building pathways for genuine inclusion and understanding.

Creating inclusive communities across Queensland

Through partnerships and grassroots projects, DSIDQ helps create inclusive communities Queensland can be proud of. These initiatives promote accessibility, employment readiness, and peer connection, ensuring every person with intellectual disability has the chance to reach their potential and belong.

DSIDQ’s leadership continues to strengthen disability inclusion Queensland initiatives, supporting families, schools, and workplaces to make inclusion part of everyday life.

Shared values that strengthen our work

At Behaviour Collaborations, we see a strong connection between DSIDQ’s advocacy work and the principles that guide our positive behaviour support services across Queensland.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred, evidence-based approach that identifies what drives behaviour and promotes positive change. It encourages strategies that build safety, confidence, and wellbeing for individuals and families alike.

At Behaviour Collaborations, we believe that our Queensland positive behaviour support programs work best when they’re shaped by lived experience and delivered with compassion. Those same values also drive DSIDQ’s advocacy and community inclusion efforts, helping build communities where every person feels supported to take part fully.

Why Events Like the DSIDQ Gala Matter

Events like the DSIDQ Gala help the broader community understand the importance of inclusion and belonging. They bring visibility to the work happening behind the scenes – the counselling sessions, education workshops, and support for families and carers that make everyday life safer and more connected for people with intellectual disability.

For Behaviour Collaborations, sponsorship means standing alongside DSIDQ to celebrate progress and continue the conversation about equality, understanding, and compassion.

The event is open to the public, inviting everyone to join in this statewide celebration of community and advocacy.

Collaboration That Creates Change

Behaviour Collaborations was founded on a simple idea – that progress happens when we work together. Through our behaviour support Queensland services, we partner with families, clinicians, and organisations to create lasting change. Our team develops tailored behaviour support plans that promote dignity, safety, and connection for every person we work with.

That same philosophy underpins the DSIDQ Gala 2025 – a celebration of collective achievement and a reminder that inclusion grows through collaboration. Each partnership, each story, and each act of support brings us closer to a Queensland that welcomes everyone.

Message from the Founder

“When we come together to celebrate inclusion, we’re not just acknowledging achievements, we’re reinforcing what makes our communities strong. Behaviour support isn’t only about reducing challenges; it’s about helping people live fulfilled lives built on choice, connection and hope. That’s why events like the DSIDQ Gala are so important – they remind us how powerful belonging can be.”

Corinne Dewynter, Founder, Behaviour Collaborations

As we look toward October 2025 and the DSIDQ Gala 2025 – Step Up!, Behaviour Collaborations celebrates everyone who contributes to making Queensland a place of understanding and acceptance. Our shared commitment to positive behaviour support Queensland helps ensure every person with intellectual disability has the opportunity to participate and thrive. Together, we can continue to build a future where inclusion is not an initiative – it’s a way of life.

You can learn more about the event by visiting the official Down Syndrome & Intellectual Disability Queensland Gala page.

As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusive practice, Behaviour Collaborations also supports NDIS participants through individualised plans and community-based strategies. For example, our work in Autism Behaviour Support Strategies highlights how tailored, evidence-based approaches can help people and families achieve meaningful outcomes.

If you’d like to learn more about our person-centred behaviour support services, we’re always open to a conversation.
